Who We Are

Mission

Sovren Consulting is an operations consulting practice helping owner-operated small and mid-market businesses build the internal systems that unlock sustainable growth. We rely on meaningful access to client operations and a long-term partnership model that evolves with each client.

We believe small businesses are the backbone of a healthy economy. More capable, financially sovereign operators within any industry means more competition, more diversity of capital, and more resilience in the market. Our form of contribution is practical: we help small businesses build the intelligent systems that let them punch above their weight, competing against larger enterprises that have more resources, but not necessarily better systems.

What makes our approach distinct is the Sovren Framework, five core functions drawn from the common denominators of any well-functioning system, whether a machine, an organism, or an organization. This isn't a checklist. It's a lens for diagnosing where a business is, mapping where it wants to go, and building a roadmap that compounds over time.

We are human first, AI powered. In a world of off-the-shelf automation tools and cookie-cutter AI agents, we don't slap a solution on a problem and walk away. We build systems that become more robust with every phase, so our clients are never starting over, just leveling up.

Sim has spent the last six years inside the systems small businesses run on, including hands-on ecommerce operations. She's partnered with over a hundred service businesses across North America to grow their visibility through organic marketing, from search presence to reputation to the workflows behind them. Across every role she kept seeing the same thing: businesses that had grown past their own processes, with knowledge trapped in one person's head and no clear picture of their own data. Sovren exists to fix that. A certified Project Management Professional, Sim brings both the operational discipline and the AI capability to build systems that keep working long after the engagement ends.

Gurmehak has spent her career in the financial engine room of businesses at every scale. She started in IT risk advisory at one of the Big Four accounting firms, then managed full-cycle accounting for a global infrastructure fund as it more than doubled in size. From there, she moved through a series of high-growth SMBs (including ecommerce operations), where the job description changed as fast as the business did. It was running operations for a boutique accounting firm that shaped Sovren most: her workflow redesigns lifted operational efficiency by 45%, improved collections by 36%, and tripled client referrals. Across every one of those firms, she saw the same pattern, growth outpacing the systems meant to support it. A University of Waterloo accounting and financial management graduate, Gurmehak brings the financial rigor behind Sovren's work, making sure every system is measured by the numbers it moves.
